Real Property Tax Sales

From June 1, 2017 until the conclusion of the Collector’s tax sale, which begins on August 28, 2017, ONLY CERTIFIED FUNDS will be accepted for payment of delinquent taxes for 2014 and prior years.

Certified funds include cashier’s checks, money orders or cash.
NO EXCEPTIONS.

The Saint Louis County Collector of Revenue’s office conducts its annual real property tax sale on the fourth Monday in August.

All persons participating in the sale must register before making bids, utilizing the notarized registration form. The completed and notarized form may be submitted to our office in advance of the sale.

On the day of the sale, we will accept completed, notarized registrations and assign numbers for bidders beginning at 8:30 AM, and commence the sale at 10:00 AM in the County Council Chambers. ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND WILL BE MADE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER AT PUBLIC AUCTION. In compliance with section 140.150, 140.170, 140.290 RSMO, all parcels sold will have an additional fee of $30 added at the time of sale to cover the costs of recording of the certificate of purchase/collector’s deed.

First and Second Offering of Delinquent Lands and Lots

The following is a publication of lands and lots in the County of St. Louis, Missouri, upon which Tax Certificates are to be offered for sale in the County Council Chambers of the St. Louis County Government Center (First Floor, Administration Building, 41 S. Central Avenue; adjacent to the Courthouse) in Clayton in the County of St. Louis, State of Missouri, on Monday, August 28, 2017, at ten o'clock A.M. and continuing from day to day as indicated by the following publication and by the undersigned according to provisions of Chapter 140 R.S. Mo., 2000, supp. 2016, and any amendments thereto. This publication serves as a notice to anyone with a lease lien or claim on any of the listed properties of that person’s need to redeem their interest in the properties to avoid sale for taxes.

All persons participating in the sale must register before making bids by utilizing the notarized registration form. The completed and notarized form may be submitted to the Collector of Revenue’s office in advance of the sale. On the day of the sale, we will accept completed, notarized registration forms and assign numbers for bidders beginning at 8:30 AM, and commence the sale at 10:00 AM in the County Council Chambers. The lands or lots are to be sold under the descriptions as listed. The amounts shown are due for each year plus cost, represent the total amount of taxes, interest, penalties and expenses incidental to this sale. All sales are final. The Certificate of Purchase will be issued and delivered to the purchasers.

It must be noted that the “Supreme Court of Missouri” has determined that deeds of trust, mortgages and other security interests may not be extinguished by tax sales pursuant to Chapter 140 R.S. Mo. Said liens may remain in full force and effect. Therefore, in Collector of Revenue Tax Sales, St Louis County only transfers such interest as it possess in the property at the time of tax sale. Issuance of a collector’s deed, alone, does not convey clear title. The Collector makes no warranty, guarantee, or other affirmation as to the title to be transferred by any sale.

The general public is invited to bid on these properties at any time outside of the tax sale.
