Board of Equalization

The Board of Equalization (BOE) is a Statutory Board governed by the Missouri Constitution and Missouri Revised Statutes. It has the responsibility of determining the correct value of real and personal property for individuals, businesses and manufacturers.

The Board also considers requests for exemption from real and personal property taxes submitted by not-for-profit organizations based upon the ownership and use of the property.

All notices, of meetings are posted on the main bulletin board in the Lawrence K. Roos Administration Building. Schedules and/or agendas are available in our office on the second floor.

Property Assessment Appeals Deadline Extension

For St. Louis County taxpayers who in good faith tried to file an appeal online prior to midnight July 8 but could not because of county computer issues, the deadline has been extended to Monday, July 29.

There are three ways you can file:

  • Electronically by email to [email protected] (deadline is midnight on 7/29)
  • In person at the BOE office at 41 S. Central (deadline is close of business, 5 p.m., on 7/29)
  • By snail mail to the BOE office (must be postmarked by 7/29)

Exemption forms are available year-round at:

  • Board of Equalization office at 41 S. Central Avenue in Clayton
  • Online at the Saint Louis County Exemption Forms web page.

Monday, July 8, 2019 is the deadline for filing your property assessment appeal forms with the Board of Equalization (BOE)

By state statute real estate and personal property assessment appeals are accepted by the BOE between May 1 and the second Monday in July of each year.
