On Wednesday, August 5, 2009, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued charges on Mark A. Gerler, 30 years of age, of the 11000 block of Bellefontaine in North St. Louis County, for Murder in the Second Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Gerler is currently being held on 250,000 cash only bond. A photo of Gerler is attached and can be viewed online. Mark Gerler was charged for his actions on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:45 PM within his home where he had a verbal confrontation with a 32 year old male aquaintance and then a physical altercation before shooting the victim in the chest. The victim died at the scene. Gerler was arrested at the scene and a weapon was recovered.
