Saint Louis County Collector of Revenue John Friganza announces that the 2009 tax bills will be mailed to St. Louis County property owners in November. Legislative changes (Senate Bill 711) have put the mailing date one month later than in previous years, where property owners expected to see tax bills in their mailbox sometime in October. St. Louis County expects to mail approximately 370,000 real property bills and 550,000 personal property tax bills for 2009. Real property tax bills will be mailed prior to personal property tax bills. Any property owner who escrows taxes through their mortgage company and receives a tax bill for real property should contact their mortgage company for instructions. Senior citizens or disabled County residents, who have been qualified by the State of Missouri to receive the “Homestead Preservation Credit” for 2009, can expect to see that credit applied to the total on their tax bill. The Collector of Revenue will be issuing credits to approximately 6,221 seniors and disabled residents from the State of Missouri Homestead Preservation Credit program. The total credit amount is $1,768,909.24. Self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes are included for mailing payments. Real property and personal property tax payments may be included on one check and mailed in either of the envelopes. If the self-addressed envelope is not used, taxpayers may find the mailing address on the back of the tax bill.
