Frequently Asked Questions

Who is on the Task Force and how did they get there?
St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley appointed the task force. Its members are: Dee Joyner (At-Large); Fred Douglas (At-Large); Ron Watermon (At-Large); Teresa Kendrick (County Council District 1); Rev. Claudine E. Murphy (District 2); Dr. Scott Saunders (District 3); John Gianoulakis (District 4); Joyce Walsh (District 5); J.R. Grimes (District 6); Stephen Banton (District 7) and Chairman Tom Irwin.

How do I contact the Task Force?
You may call Dave Wrone at 314-615-8173 or email him at dwrone@stlouisco.com. Wrone is public information coordinator for St. Louis County's Department of Highways and Traffic, and will relay all messages to the appropriate Task Force member(s). You may also click the "Comment" icon in the left column of the main page to share your thoughts.

Does the Task Force have a support staff?
Yes. The Department of Highways and Traffic, under the leadership of Director Garry W. Earls, is providing substantial staff and technical support in the form of traffic analysis and analysis of potential cost and benefit impacts of possible traffic management options. East-West Gateway is assisting county staff in coordinating technical support.

Is the Task Force interacting with St. Louis County communities most affected by the improvement project?
Yes, with an Administrative Management Oversight Committee (AMOC) consisting of administrative or professional staff members from the following communities: Brentwood, Clayton, Frontenac, Ladue, Richmond Heights and Westwood. The AMOC meets regularly with Highways and Traffic technical and support staffers to explore the benefits and weaknesses of all traffic management options that may be undertaken as a result of MoDOT's project. St. Louis County's Task Force will closely consider all AMOC concerns and suggestions before drafting its final position paper. St. Louis County will work closely with MoDOT throughout this process. County Executive Dooley ultimately will share his position paper with the state. We expect to work with the City of St. Louis through the East West Gateway Coordinating Council to coordinate our efforts with theirs.

Why does this section of I-64/40 need to be improved?
For an in-depth examination of the problems currently afflicting this portion of I64, as well as planned solutions for those problems, please visit MoDOT's web site on the subject at: www.thenewi64.org.

Are Task Force meetings open to the public?

Yes. The Task Force meetings are open to the public, but are not designed to accomodate a comment period. Concerns, opinions, questions and comments should be communicated to your Task Force representative, whom you can reach via the 'Comment" icon or by calling Dave Wrone at 314-615-8173. We expect to post minutes, agendas and other meeting material on this website in the near future.
