Recommended ImprovementsThe Hanley Road Steering Committee and Stakeholder group worked diligently throughout the study process to determine the most suitable recommendation for the corridor to obtain the stated goals of the Study. The Steering Committee and Stakeholder groups finalized a concept plan addressing issues on both ends of the corridor. This plan calls for the general widening of Hanley Road from I-64 to south of Manchester Road to a seven-lane roadway section (three travel lanes in each direction plus center turn-lanes). In addition, a short tunnel between Dale Avenue and Eager Road would be constructed to improve access from northbound Hanley Road to westbound Eager Road and to ensure future accessibility of Eager Road after the MoDOT improvements to I-64 are in place. Lastly, the intersection between Hanley Road and Manchester Road would be reconstructed with Hanley Road going over Manchester Road with ramps connecting the two roadways. This configuration would be a similar, smaller version of the interchange between Route 141 and Manchester Road in west St. Louis County. Following a successful public involvement process in 2004, the concept plan, that considered public comment, was adopted by the Steering Committee. St. Louis County intends to bid out the design of the southern portion (phase 1) in late spring 2006. A graphic depiction of the draft concept plan in PDF format can be viewed on this website by selecting the DRAFT PLAN button on the left side for either the northern portion of the project (between I-64 and West Bruno) or for the southern portion (between Hanley Industrial Court and Laclede Station Road south of Manchester Road). Questions and comments regarding the plan can be submitted by e-mail from this website or by contacting your Steering Committee representative.
