From June 1, 2020 until the conclusion of the Collector’s tax sale, which begins on August 24, 2020,

ONLY CERTIFIED FUNDS (Cashier’s Check or Money Order)

will be accepted for payment of delinquent real property taxes for 2017 and prior years.

Payments should be made to 'Collector of Revenue' and may be mailed to or dropped off in the lobby of 41 S. Central Ave in Clayton, MO 63105.

On July 21, 2020, a $20.00 publication fee will be added to all delinquent real property tax bills for 2017 and prior years.

Payment in full can be made online, but our website cannot accept partial payments.

In order to obtain certain information from St. Louis County Department of Revenue that you may need to register your motor vehicle with the state on time, please consider the following suggestions:

  1. Avoid long processing times and delays by paying your St. Louis County Personal Property Tax for previous years before requesting a tax waiver. 
  2. Whenever possible, please try to license your vehicle during the first 15 days of the month.  To request any adjustments to St. Louis County tax documents, email [email protected] during that time as well; and
  3. Remember that Personal Property Tax waivers are issued only to new Missouri residents or those who did NOT own any personal property in 2018 or 2019.   

Personal property tax waivers are issued in person and during the current public health crisis also by email.

Please schedule an appointment at to visit one of our offices and receive your waiver at that time or send an email to [email protected]  with your request, and provide the following:

  • photos or scans of both sides of your ID (must be legible)
  • the front and back of the title or registration paperwork of the car (must be legible)
  • your address on January 1, 2018 , 2019 & 2020 and your current address if different.

If you opt for email, your waiver will be emailed to you after we have processed setting up your personal property account.

Our staff is working all Collector requests in the order received. Due to these unusual circumstances, we cannot provide a time estimate of when you will receive the waiver.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Collector of Revenue serves as the billing, collecting and disbursing agent for more than 200 different taxing districts in St. Louis County.

The Collector efficiently manages this complex and overlapping taxing environment by offering a centralized process to expedite the receipt and distribution of over $1.8 billion annually for:

  • Personal Property Taxes
  • Real Estate Property Taxes
  • Railroad and Utility Taxes
  • Merchant's and Manufacturer's Taxes

Each taxing authority provides their individual tax rates to the Collector of Revenue, who combines those rates into individual tax bills.
