Dr. Sam Page | My First 100 Days

I became St. Louis County’s ninth County Executive on April 29, 2019.
I knew the first thing we needed to do was start restoring trust in County government.
So we began implementing a new ethical standard with zero tolerance for pay-to-play. We increased transparency so our constituents can help hold us accountable.
And we ensured that no stone was left unturned in identifying and trying to reverse corrupt insider deals that wasted taxpayer money.
We also knew we had to start rebuilding County government from the ground up. We started rebuilding relationships that had been broken – including building respectful, collaborative relationships with County Council members, County employees, business and civic leaders, and the leaders of other regional governments.
And we began implementing new programs to improve customer service and deliver government services more effectively and efficiently.
Once we restore trust in County government and make government start working well again, we can begin tackling the biggest challenges holding our region back.
We’ve prioritized resources to reduce crime and to help reform the criminal justice system. We’ve implemented economic development strategies to bring in new jobs and retain existing ones. And we’ve begun finally addressing racial disparities that we all know exist but that some politicians simply choose to ignore.
