Carry Concealed Weapon Information

Application Procedure

The following procedure was developed for all St. Louis County residents to follow in order to obtain a concealed carry endorsement. What follows is the list of requirements for residents of St. Louis County as mandated by State Statute.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Appear in person to the endorsement application location
  • Provide a valid Missouri Drivers License, Non-Drivers license or Military ID and orders
  • Complete the application affirming that all qualifications have been met
  • Submit a photocopy of the firearms qualification certification
  • Pay $76 fee - Check, cash or money order made payable to Treasurer - St. Louis County

The St. Louis County Police Department will be accepting applications at the St. Louis County Police Headquarters, located at 7900 Forsyth Boulevard, 63105. Clerks will be available between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. No new applications for Concealed Carry Weapons Permits will be accepted after 4:30 PM.

Applications will be taken for the endorsement on the Street Level of the Headquarters building, in the Private Security Unit of the Bureau of Central Police Records.

Applicants are reminded that once the application is submitted, the approval process can take as long as 45 days. Notification of approval or denial will be made by mail. The notification will provide further instructions based on the approval or denial. If approved, the certificate of endorsement must be carried at all times when in possession of a concealed firearm. The Department of Revenue will issue a new drivers or non-drivers license containing the concealed carry endorsement, which is valid for three years, to those who qualify.

Renewal Procedure


To renewal your Carry Conceal endorsement bring your Missouri Drivers License or Missouri ID card that bears the CCW endorsement to the Record Room located at 7900 Forsyth, Clayton, MO, Room B-021. Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

St. Louis County does not charge a renewal fee.

Information for Firearms Safety Instructors

The St. Louis County Police Department is now accepting applications for concealed carry endorsements and State Law requires all Qualified Firearms Safety Instructors to complete a "Firearms Safety Instructor Form" for each St. Louis County Resident that has successfully completed and passed a firearms safety training course. This is a requirement of RSMo 571.111.

Please note: Effective August 28, 2011 the age for obtaining a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit has has been lowered from 23 to 21.

Also effective on August 28, 2011, training must include the firing of 50 rounds of ammunition from a revolver and 50 rounds of ammunition from a semi-automatic, and an additional 20 supervised rounds must be fired from each weapon for a total of 70 rounds from each. Any applications made after August 28, 2011 must comply with the new law.

You must be an approved instructor with credentials on file with our Department before we will issue a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit to any person trained by you.
