Practicum Students and Interns
The Department of Justice Services provides student practicum experiences for
individuals in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in fields such as
social work, criminal justice, counseling and psychology. Students from notable
colleges such as St. Louis University, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Southern
Illinois University at Edwardsville, Washington University, Fontbonne College, Maryville
University and McKendree College have completed their practicum requirements with our
department.
In addition, the Department of Health provides practicum experience in corrections
medicine for nursing students from the St. Louis University and University of
Missouri-St. Louis' School of Nursing. Medical students from the School of Osteopathic
Medicine in Kirksville and from the Physician Assistant Program at St. Louis University
have also completed internships at Justice Services.
These students and interns not only gain valuable experience from our department,
but also bring enthusiasm and new ideas as they work with the staff to provide services
to the inmate population.
